The standard Gordon’s gin is, of course, sold in the famous green bottle and is one of the world’s most recognizable drinks brands. This, the export version, contains exactly the same gin, but has an alcoholic content of 47.3%, compared with the standard version of just 37.5%. This has an altogether fruitier, fresher, and fuller taste. Gordon’s has a history going back to 1769, when Alexander Gordon started producing a London Dry Gin in South London. Today it is made in Scotland by drinks giant Diageo at its grain distillery Cameronbridge. Described as ‘the ginniest of all gins’, this has a bold and assertive juniper taste, but this version also has a strong citric theme and a pleasant spicy one.
